Welcome to the Year 6 Curriculum Page
We hope you had a lovely summer. Firstly, we would like to say what a fantastic start your children have made to their time in Year 6– we are all so proud of how they have settled back into school so quickly. We are delighted to see them back in school and we are looking forward to working with you to support them throughout this school year.
This newsletter will introduce a few important pieces of information about Year 6. We hope you find it of interest.
We look forward to meeting with you during our Parents’ Evening this half term.
This year, Year 6 will be taught by Mr Kowalski and Mr Harding.
Mr Kowalski will be in class Monday -Thursday and Mr Harding will be in class Monday-Friday. We are also very lucky to have Mrs Bishop, Mrs Willis and Mrs Westmoreland supporting.
Mrs Curbison will teach the children on a Thursday afternoon and support Mr Harding on a Friday
We recognise the importance of communication; if you have anything you wish to discuss, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

How can I help my child?
Reading: Reading is crucial to your child’s academic achievement in Year 6. Your child will take a reading book home daily. Please listen to your child read and sign their journal to say you have read with them. Also, speaking to your child about what they have read and asking them questions to test their understanding is a fantastic way of helping to develop your child’s understanding of what they have read.
Spellings: On Mondays, the class will be given a list of words to learn for a spelling test on Friday.
Maths: Mathletics online, Times Table Rock Stars online or Oak Academy online.
English: A range of online tasks may be sent to follow up on classwork. Please let us know if you do not have internet access.
We really do appreciate the help and support you give your child when completing homework!
We believe communication is key to ensuring your child’s best chances at school so we will work hard to keep you up to date with your child’s learning.
Class Dojo is a great tool to help you to see what your child is achieving in the classroom. It is also a quick and easy way to message your child’s teachers. We encourage all families to sign up (further details on separate letter) and look forward to sharing your child’s achievements with you.
More information on this will follow. We look forward to working closely with you over this academic year.
As a school, we are no longer sending paper copies of letters. All communication will be via our school app, called ParentApps Connect. If you have not signed up to this already, please do so as all important messages are communicated via the app.
If you need support to set up your account, please contact ParentApps on 0151 808 0093 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. If you still need help, please speak to a member of the school office.
We look forward to meeting you all soon and thank you for all you do to support your child.
